Dean Leffingwell is a consultant, author/methodologist, and software industry executive who provides enterprise-level agility and product strategy consulting to large software businesses. His latest book, Scaling Software Agility: Best Practices for Large Enterprises was published by Addison-Wesley in 2007.
Formerly, Mr. Leffingwell served as VP of Rational Software, now IBM's Rational Division, where he was responsible for the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and promulgation of the UML. He is the former founder and CEO of Requisite, Inc., makers of RequisitePro for requirements management.
During the last five years, Mr. Leffingwell has applied his experience as an independent consultant and advisor/methodologist to Rally Software and to the challenge of implementing agile methods at large, distributed, multinational corporations including BMC Software.
Mr. Leffingwell is also the lead author of the text Managing Software Requirements, first and second editions, from Addison-Wesley, 1999 and 2003.
